Restoring Wet Meadows

Lower Halstead Meadow before revegetation efforts of NPS project staff and 35 volunteer Chiefs from Lemoore Naval Station to deliver and install more than 50  grassy mats, 230 “tubs” of wetlands sod along with more than 1,000 sand bags to stabilize gullies and prevent erosion from high water runoff.

The parks native plant nursery propagated 8,900 container plants which were planted over the 2013 summer season using both park staff and numerous volunteers.  A favorite spot for park visitor to view wildlife. Look for an updated photo of Halstead Meadow restoration…coming soon!
